CHRIST OVER ALL: “Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God” (Rom 9:5). “The same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him” (Rom 10:12). “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (Col 1:15). John Wesley was walking along a country lane with a friend who, deeply distressed by life’s troubles, expressed doubt in God’s goodness. “I don’t know what I shall do with all my worries,” he said to the renowned preacher. Wesley noticed a cow nearby, looking over a stone wall. “Why,” he asked his friend, “does that cow look over the wall?” “Because it can’t see through it, I suppose,” was the simple reply. “Precisely!” responded Wesley. “So if you can’t see through your troubles, try looking over them. Look up to the Lord.” As we read in Ephesians 1:22, God has “put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church.” Since we are His body, and all things are under Him, we share this place in honor—over all!
