CHRIST the PARADOX: “As deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things” (2 Cor 6:8-10). Explain it, if you can: “it is no longer I who live…and the life which I now live.” A paradox is only a seeming contradiction, but there is a key that makes it true. Christ is the secret that makes sense out of the following: We must become less so we can become greater. Only by being a slave to righteousness will we become truly free. The Lord’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. We see things that are unseen. We only conquer by yielding. We find rest under a yoke. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Only true servants will someday reign as kings. We become wise by being fools for Christ’s sake. We are suited for service by boasting in our infirmities. We live by dying. Yes, Christ is the key to it all!
