The SON, the FATHER’S DELIGHT (Part 2): “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (Jn 14:13). The crucified Son now sits on the Throne dispensing grace. How did He get there? No less than 16x we are told that God raised His Son from the dead (Acts 2:24; 2:32; 3:15; 3:26; 4:10; 5:30; 10:40; 13:30; 13:33; 13:37; 1 Cor 6:14; 1 Cor 15:15; Gal 1:1; Eph 1:20; Col 2:12; 1 Pet 1:21)! It was the constant refrain of the NT preachers. It was the proof of a divinely accepted redemption. It was the evidence of the defeat of death and hell, with their keys hanging on His belt (Rev 1:18). And it is the portend of the believer’s own resurrection soon. Not only so, but we are told that the God who raised His Son from the dead also lifted Him up and seated Him in the highest place (Acts 2:30; 2:34; Eph 1:20; Php 2:9; Heb 1:3; 1:13; 8:1; 10:12). Thus is the prophecy fulfilled: “He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high” (Isa 52:13). Far above all!
