CHRIST the HATER: “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions” (Heb 1:9). They say a good gardener must not only love flowers but hate weeds. Today people have the strange notion that we must love everything. But God’s selection of His Son to be King of All included this requirement—that Christ be a hater of all that is lawless (iniquitous, anomia). In fact, the final rebellion is called “the mystery of lawlessness” (2 Thess 2:7). H.P. Barker writes: “It was formerly the fashion to leave in large gardens an uncultivated corner, in which wild plants might grow. Now the custom is not so general, for gardeners have found that the neglected patch becomes a breeding-place for pests who will ravage the whole garden.” Christ loves sinners, of course, but He hates sin, and with such a passion that He is determined to eradicate sin from the whole universe! Hallelujah!
