CHRIST the MYSTERY: “Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Tim 3:16). We have invested a full year exploring the wonders of Christ. Yet surely we have only begun. It is “eternal life,” said He, to know Him (see Jn 17:3). Who can plumb the depths of His love or scale the heights of His glories? Who can describe the wonders of His Person or scan the vastness of His works? Who of us can calculate the worth of His sacrifice or sum up the riches of His inheritance? How long will it take to hear the individual lessons He has taught His people on the desert journey? Or how long to turn these experiences into paeons of praise? Will we ever come to the end of finding out His secrets? The surprises He has for us that have never entered into the heart’s wildest imaginations? And when we have done all this, and then look into that matchless Face, will we think even for a moment that now we know Him as He know us? But oh the joy of discovery!
