March 20 Petition Mission

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Ps 62:8).

If we’re honest, we know it’s unjudged sin that keeps us back from the blessings God wants us to have in our lives and ministries. But what can we do about it? Whistle in the dark, pretending the enemy isn’t grinning nearby in the shadows? No, “pour out your heart before Him.”

Alexander Whyte says, “The only way to get rid of sin — as well as of sorrow — is to pour it out before God. For one thing, you are often tormented and polluted, are you not, with sinful thoughts? Now as soon as they enter, as soon as they arise, pour them out before God.…Repudiate them. Deny them. Denounce them.…Pour them out like poison…He knows all that is in your heart in that moment of temptation; and He waits to see what you will say to Him about your heart, and what you will do with it. Disappoint Him not. Do it. “Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
