June 19 Petition Mission

“O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance” (Ps 16:5-6).

The “Great Durbar” was held in 1911 near Delhi, India, where, with great pomp, King George V and Queen Mary were proclaimed Emperor and Empress of India. The nobles gathered there to show loyalty to their sovereigns. Afterwards, the Maharajah of Nabha paid a great sum into the Indian Treasury so the land on which his encampment had been spread might be forever free of taxation. He said: “I, the king, have rested here, therefore the land shall be free from burdens forever.”

What of our King? What a price paid beyond human calculation into Heaven’s Treasury! He says: “I, the King have lived down here, bearing your trials and sorrows, giving guidance and grace for living. Therefore the believer’s life on earth and soon in heaven can be forever free from the burdens I’ve borne for them.” What an inheritance!
