August 27 Petition Mission

“The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor 10:4-5).

One of our mighty weapons in the battle for the rescue of the human race is prayer. The Bible explains that thoughts are the most potent weapons in the world, especially Christ-captive ones. Obviously the closer my thoughts are to obeying Christ at any moment, the closer I can be in responding to the need of that moment in prayer. Was it Marcus Aurelius who said, “The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts”? Harnessing thoughts to the Lord will win the prayer battle.

Why is it such a struggle? Between our sentry post at the front and Mission Control are “the heavenlies,” where spiritual wickedness is arrayed. Tearing down Satan’s strongholds in our minds clears the field for rapid deployment to heaven in times of need.
