August 4 Petition Mission

“All Your commandments are faithful; they persecute me wrongfully. Help me!” (Ps 119:86).

They say death and taxes are the only sure things in life. But here are two things we can count on, too. One is that God’s Word will always speak what is right to me. The other is that some people will speak wrong of me. But the believer’s hope is the God of help.

Here is the ultimate in prayer efficiency—just two words. I know God knows my need. I know He knows the answer, too. And I know that, when no one else understands, or even knows that I need help, God is standing by. But don’t let false accusations distract you from the life God has given you to live. Turn any vindication He thinks necessary over to the Lord. As Peter put it: “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example…who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously” (1 Pet 2:21-23). That’s the key.
