September 2 Petition Mission

“Then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech Thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small” (Amos 7:2, KJV).

God is always looking for intercessors, those who plead the case of those in need. Abraham pled for Sodom (Gen 18:23-33). Moses pled for Israel (Ex 32:11-13). Stephen pled for His murderers (Acts 7:59-60).

When it comes to the present day, we might ask, “By whom shall the Church arise?” Would it not be enough to have one mighty Intercessor? But see, there are two! Hear the words of Scripture: “The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses [for we are small]. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.…Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us” (Rom 8:26, 34).

We are well looked after! But who will plead for those around us who cannot, or do not, plead for themselves?
