CHRIST our BRIDEGROOM: “Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” (Mt 25:6). You remember when the unnamed servant came to woo a bride for Abraham’s “only beloved son”? He showed Rebecca a sampling of Isaac’s wealth since, as he said, “to him he has given all that he has” (Gen 24:36). Would you like to see a sample of what has been shared with Christ’s bride? In the Ephesian epistle alone, we read of “the glory of His grace” (1:6) by which we are accepted in Him; and of redemption through “the riches of His grace” (1:7); while in 2:7, Paul calls them “the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us.” But “the unsearchable riches of Christ” (3:8) also reveal that He is “rich in mercy” (2:4) and includes “the riches of His glory” (3:16). And who could calculate the worth of “the love of Christ which passes knowledge” (v 19) or “the exceeding greatness of His power toward us” (1:19) or His “manifold wisdom” (3:10)? No bride was ever so blessed in matrimony!
