CHRIST with the MIGHTY NAME: “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong” (Acts 3:16). The infidel gives grudging proof to the power of Christ’s name by using, not the names of the founders of the world’s great religions, but only that Name when he curses. John wrote the purpose of His Gospel: “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have LIFE in His name” (Jn 20:31) for it had been prophesied, “in His name Gentiles will trust” (Mt 12:21). No wonder, when people heard the Good News, “they were BAPTIZED in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 19:5). And where the believers “GATHERED together in My name,” promised the Lord, He would be in their midst (Mt 18:20). But, Jesus warned, “You will be HATED by all for My name’s sake” (Mt 10:22). Still, “they went forth for His name’s sake” (3 Jn 7). In fact, His people are to “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Col 3:17). Matchless Name!
